Pro Bono Opportunities

Alpine Legal Services offers a variety of pro-bono opportunities for attorneys looking to give back to their community.  Every hour of pro-bono service makes a direct and positive impact on our clients who otherwise would not have access to legal help.  If you are an attorney looking to make an impact, we invite you to complete our Pro Bono Survey form here.

Here is a list of possible pro bono opportunities:

• Ask a Lawyer Hotline
• Direct representation for areas of law outside of our scope of services
• Direct representation in family, elder, immigration, and housing law when our caseload exceeds our capacity 
• Limited scope representation
• 1-hour consultations
• Assistance completing legal forms
• Mentoring attorneys

Alpine Legal Services provides malpractice insurance to all our volunteer attorneys.  We also provide resources for training for working with a wide variety of clients, including those suffering from trauma.

And did you know Rule 6.1 of the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct permits attorney to earn one (1) CLE credit hour for every five (5) hours of pro bono representation provided to a client of limited means?  In addition, attorneys who act as a mentor may earn one (1) unit of general credit per completed matter in which he/she mentors another lawyer.  

Alpine Legal Services can not only connect you with the right pro bono and/or mentorship opportunity – we are more than happy to help you complete the appropriate form to get CLE credit for this work. 

In addition to reporting your hours for CLE credit, please be sure to report your hours to Alpine Legal Services through our internal form so we can be sure to appreciate you in our annual Pro Bono Appreciation half-page ad in our local papers.
